The Cambridge Roar is a festival of charity events raising funds for worthy causes. Since its conception in 2014 we have raised £55,000 for our nominated charities through holding a huge variety of events in a purpose-built luxury marquee in the grounds of Quy Mill Hotel & Spa, Cambridge.
Our calendar of events is open to everyone, groups of friends enjoy our Fashion Shows and White Collar Boxing alike, whilst couples will find plenty of evenings out with our Comedy Night or one of our luxury dinners, and our Finale Ball is popular with everyone!
A range of more corporate events also appeal to local businesses, meaning that the Roar also functions as a platform for networking, and an opportunity for organisations to get involved in a growing Corporate Social Responsibility Policy. We pride ourselves on not only providing some exciting additions to the Cambridge Summer calendar, but also helping to grow and connect the local business community.
We are delighted that we will again be raising funds for The Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, alongside the new additions of East Anglian Air Ambulance and the Cambridge United Community Trust as beneficiaries, so do take a look at the events and how you can get involved – we hope to see you at an event soon!
Tony Murdock, Chairman of The Cambridge Roar and General Manager of Quy Mill Hotel & Spa, had a vision to stage a series of events in the community to raise funds and awareness for Charity. From this The Cambridge Roar was born and successfully launched in 2014.
The aim was simple, to provide a diverse range of events whilst raising much needed funds for The Prince’s Trust – something that was achieved with a grand total of £5,000 raised in The Roar’s first year.
In 2015 we wanted to build on the success of our first year, so we chose to increase the number of events over a longer period of time, raising funds for not only The Prince’s Trust once again, but this time also for The Arthur Rank Hospice Charity’s ‘Help Our Hospice’ Campaign. The festival of charity events extended from its usual Summer schedule, also holding a number of events in September – with a fantastic £21,500 raised in total over 2015.
This unique brand really became a recognisable force in it’s 3rd year, with the potential to grow and raise further support for local and national charities – we therefore continued to support The Prince’s Trust and The Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, but with the addition of Cancer Research UK as our third charity of choice.
Having learnt from our successes and perfected the line-up, we brought back all the favourites from 2015 to culminate in 12 events , raising a total of £28,500, and highlighting the potential the Roar has for reaching out to local businesses and the community.
